Note	Age at the date of the marriage bond is 26, indicating a birth date of 1729/30. However his wife may have been bapt. 1727 (see note to her entry). Burke's Commoners shows his ancestry as: "Francis Mitford of Hexham, whose father was a cadet of the house of Mitford, espoused an Ogle of Kirkley, and thus allied himself to the Greys, Dacres, Bennets, and to most of the other great Northumbrian families." As an earlier marriage to a Miss Ogle has not been found no such connection is shown in the tree. One of two doctors treating wounded at Hexham Massacre 9 Mar 1761. Mentioned as Francis Midford of Hexham, surgeon as an attorney in surrender of property 14 Oct 1762. Described as "Mr. Fran Midford, surgeon" of Hexham at burial of his daughter Elizabeth 14 Sep 1762, Hexham. Will dated 2 Mar 1768.
