A General in the British Army. Died at his son's house (The Gentleman's Magagzine Volume 161, 1836). Will dated 8 May 1836. Probate granted London 23 Jul 1836 to William Henry Scott, son, who was appointed executor by a codicil to his will..

Licence dated 9 Nov 1785. William Scott (esquire), age 30, of Ripon, Yorkshire, Ann Blackett, age 30, of Stamfordham, Northumberland, directed to Stamfordham. Surety: Christopher Fawcett, esquire, of Newcastle-upon-Tyne. [Note: married 15 Nov at Stamfordham.]
FreeReg reports there is an entry in the register of St. Mary the Virgin, Stamfordham, with no date given. The FreeReg transcriber shows this as believed to have been between 25 Mar 1785 and 25 Mar 1786.
Stamfordham banns: read on 6 Nov 1785. "Married in the [Stamfordham] church by license on the15th day of Nov 1785, by me Thomas Baxter, solemnized in the presence of Henry Blackett, H.[?] Blackett, Thom Hesop[?], John Stevenson."
They are believed to have gone through an earlier wedding service at Gretna Green, Scotland but no record has been found.
