Inherited two farms including Low Bitchburn from his father, of whose will he was executor.
Of Low Bitchburn. Died intestate. He and Mary Blackett witnessed a mortgage by Edward Blackett 18 Aug 1701. His sister Mary married on the same day he did at Witton-le-Wear. Mentioned in the Heighington section of Halmote Court (mainly copyhold transfers) records 1706 and in Lynesack and Softley townships 1714 (2 entries). Sued George Jackson of Richmond, Yorks., yeoman for ejecting him from his farm, a messuage, 50 acres of land, 50 acres of meadow and 100 acres of pasture in the parish of Rombalds Church alias Rombalds Kirk, demised to him by John Coulson, merchant. Suit heard in York, Trinity 1712.
