In 1660 William Blackett married Elizabeth Noble in South Shields. No record of any children has been found and William appears to have died in South Shields in 1667. William may possibly have been a brother of John Blackett, who married Mary Atkinson in South Shields in 1663. John appears to have had at least five sons and for a descendancy chart of John and Mary please click here.
No connection has been found between the above Blacketts and Alexander Blackett, the father of Jane Blackett, who was born and died in West Pans, South Shields in 1703. At Jane's baptism she is described as "daughter of Alicksanders Blackitt, bastard" (i.e.presumably referring to Jane's illegitimacy, though no mother is mentioned).
[NB. The family of Frances Blackett, born c1786 in South Shields has now been successfully linked to a branch of the Blacketts based in Lamesley, Co. Durham and now forms part of the Main Blackett tree.]
