Note	Son of Sir William and Lady Blackett of Thorpe Lee. Admiral in the Royal Navy. In 1837, while a midshipman aboard HMS [Actaeon], he landed at Pitcairn Island, and purchased the medical book of HMS Bounty, the property of Captain Bligh, and which had remained in the possession of Fletcher Christian from the time of the mutiny in 1789 until his death. In 1884, John's son, Admiral Henry Blackett, confirmed that the note inside the book outlining this was in his father's handwriting. The book is now held by the National Maritime Museum. Appointed a commissioner for Land Tax for Surrey 1866. Probate granted 4 Sep 1896 to John Charles Blackett esquire, John Edward Ruck Keene and George Nelson Hector.
